SQUARES training activities at the College of Science and Technology in Bhutan
The SQUARES Project (Sustainability and Quality Assurance for Academic Governance and Redesign of Engineering Studies) has successfully trained 151 undergraduate engineering students in Bhutan across four technical domains in May 2026, building on the capacity of academic staff who completed the Master Trainer programme in November 2025.
Using a Train-the-Trainer model and interactive, BYOD-based learning, students covered Buildings and Energy Efficiency Management (18 Architecture students), Renewable Techniques (82 Electrical Engineering students), and Transportation Management (51 Civil Engineering students), gaining practical knowledge in sustainable engineering, energy efficiency, renewable energy systems, and smart transportation solutions. These training programmes significantly enhanced students’ technical competencies, awareness of modern green technologies, and engagement in industry-relevant applications, directly supporting SQUARES objectives to strengthen transversal engineering skills, improve quality management in academic governance, and boost graduate employability.
